Spiritual warfare is not just casting out demons or standing against satanic strategists in confrontational situations, it is really a battle that is carried on in our daily lives where we make decisions and do things that seem incidental.  Daily decisions are building a case for us – or against us in the spirit realm.  Then when the battle becomes the focus of our whole being for a particular situation, what has been established will have impact on how we fare.  Have we become vulnerable in some way?

As it relates to spiritual warfare, we must be acutely aware of laws within the realm of spiritual kingdoms.  Our deeds are not hid and what we do is recorded in both kingdoms.  Heaven keeps record even of our thoughts and motives.  Whenever a person repents asking for their sins to be taken away by the sacrifice of Jesus, those sins are never to be remembered by God.  When we stand before the Lord, those books will show all the good we did and the reasons we did them.  Aren’t you thankful that the Blood of Jesus erased all those sins when we received His forgiveness?  We need not let one sin remain “on the books.”

However, the kingdom of darkness keeps records in order to document where they originally obtained legal right to work against us. They keep copious records of things we said, or actions we took,  as well as responses that lined up with their suggestions to our spiritual ears and minds.

When satan comes to harass us about our past sin, we can just say, “The Blood of Jesus.”  We don’t need to argue with the devil, we just need to state a biblical truth.  Furthermore, we are not to carry on a conversation with the devil, we just state the facts like Jesus did (Luke 4:4,8,10).  Such declaration is saying to the devil – “You  no longer have legal right” — and he knows it.  When he comes to oppress and accuse for forgiven sin, he is seeking to see if you believe you were forgiven.  Just because our sins are no longer held against us in God’s heavenly kingdom, satan wants to deceive us into believing we are still under penalty and that he has power to interfere, hinder or oppress our lives.

You can boldly grasp the truth that when you were cleansed by Jesus’ Blood, satan’s legal right to buffet, accuse and hinder you was neutralized.  You may not feel forgiven, or you may still see the consequences of that sin, but when the Blood is appropriated it legally removed sins charge against you in God’s kingdom.  You can confidently confess your guiltlessness before God.  Satan’s permission to operate has been removed.

Satan’s kingdom is one of lawlessness and is used to operating illegally.  Knowing that he does not honor the forgiveness we have received, believers need to remind satan’s kingdom of that!  Believe it and speak it.

You can bet if there is unconfessed sin, satan wants to wield all he can against you – including keeping you from finding out how his works and rights can be canceled.

We will need to walk out the counsel of the Lord about what the consequences of sin have brought in the natural world when we deal with people.  When it comes to where sin is repented of, but there were people who were damaged or affected by our sins, it may mean we ask for forgiveness and/or rectify what is able.

Sometimes that is not possible because of one reason or another, but the Holy Spirit will bring guidance that brings restoration and peace.

God’s goodness brought the powerful work of the Cross to us in forgiveness, His goodness will help everyone in the situation so there can be an expression of heaven on earth.  The Kingdom of Heaven is righteousness, peace and joy in the Holy Spirit.  Why not invite the Holy Spirit to fill the situation with the Kingdom of heaven?

There are laws in the realms of the spirit.  Romans 6, 7 and 8 offer a concentrated teaching on spiritual laws. In the end, we find the law of the spirit of life in Christ Jesus has made us free from the law of sin and death (Romans 8:2).  It is obvious there are laws that work for us and those that work against us.  Satan works to keep us embroiled in laws that bring sin and death.

In receiving forgiveness and in forgiving others for the sins committed against us, a spiritual law comes into play that establishes the legal removal of the law of sin and death against us.  It also removes hindrances to our prayers (Mark 11:25, 26).

There is another way we can give permission to satan who is ready to bring his entourage of evil workers.  Two scriptures, one in the Old Testament and one in the New say the same thing.

The tongue has the power of life and death, and those who love it will eat its fruit” (Proverbs 18:21 NIV).

“For by your words you are acquitted, and by your words you will be condemned” (Matthew 12:37 NIV).

James talks about the power of the tongue and the course of our lives that is set by what we say – about ourselves and about others (James 3:3-6).  In times when we are under stress and tension, feeling sorry for ourselves or experiencing fear and anger, we can be pressured to say words that set us up for trouble.

We were created in the image of God and when God spoke – creativity happened.  Words bring blessing or cursing.  Can you think of words you repeatedly spoke that became factual in your life?  I know I have.  You would think we would learn the power of our words, but then, we have an adversary who is prodding us with negative thoughts and instigating us to say words that will give legal right for the kingdom of darkness to work against us.  If we are not mindful of this, when negative results occur in our lives, we do not remember our words and wonder why problems seem to follow us.

That is when the enemy intensifies his deceitful plans.  He harasses us to say words against ourselves and others and then he accuses us and he accuses others.  Above all, he accuses God to us and us to God (Revelation 12:10).

So what do we do?  Listen to the words that are spoken.  Repent for the words that were ungodly.  If negative words are spoken by another – don’t agree with them even in jest.  You can make a graceful comment without making an issue of not agreeing with people’s misuse of words.  Let’s say, someone says, “You’ve got ugly written all over you.”  You can respond, “I don’t think so!”

If words are spoken against you with evil intent, you can stand against them with the Word of God.  Isaiah gives us words to speak to stop evil declarations against us.  “’…no weapon forged against you will prevail. And you will refute ever tongue that accuses you.  This is the heritage of the servants of the Lord, and this is their vindication from me,’ declares the Lord” (Isaiah 54:17 NIV).  You can say, “no weapon formed against me will prevail…etc.”

Why do people pay so much money to lawyers? The whole legal profession is about laws and how they are interpreted and applied.  Finding laws that support one’s case involves a lot of research, time and hard-earned dollars.  If we are willing to do that in the natural realm, how much more would it benefit us to learn about our rights and privileges in the spirit realm?

There is but one book in the legal library to research, understand and apply.  It outlines the laws of the spirit realm so we can know the ways we can stand strong in the conflict.  We can learn of our legal rights in the Lord against the lawless rhetoric of satan’s workers.  Yes, it’s the Word of God.

Jesus is the Word of God who came to fulfill the law that was broken when Adam sinned.  Adam’s sin gave satan legal right into the earth.  When Jesus died, the penalty of Adam’s broken law and all others was paid by Him.  Jesus was shamed, spit upon, tortured and crucified.  He humbled Himself to come and die.  He did not remain in death’s hold but rose again to sit at the Father’s right hand.

Our great Lawgiver is also the Word of God who triumphantly reigns and will return one day soon.

For the Lord is our judge, the Lord is our lawgiver, the Lord is our king; he will save us (Isaiah 33:22 and James 4:12).

And he was clothed with a vesture dipped in blood: and his name is called The Word of God (Revelation 19:13).

Jesus gave us legal right to stand boldly in the spirit realm as his ambassadors and legal representatives in the earth.  He commissioned believers to do as He did.   That is good news!
